This charming nostalgic story is set in 1820s Austria. The music is classical Franz Schubert, and the story is all about his love life… and what can go wrong as the shy, young composer writes a beautiful love song to his beloved Mitzi. But he gets his best friend to sing it to her, and she falls in love with him instead … and away we go with some surprising twists and turns.

Famed and loved all over the world for more than half a century, this is a charming show with love, comedy, and immortal music. It debuted in World War One, when people everywhere needed some nostalgia and familiar music and by 1961 was estimated to have played over 85,000 performances worldwide. Rarely played now… this is your chance to experience a part of musical theatre history!

Our usual theatre is unavailable, so we are bringing you LILAC TIME in the Marion DOMAIN THEATRE just down the road. Likewise, the planned dates had to be changed to suit the new venue – so we are now performing in JUNE, and starting the evening performances a little earlier – for five shows only!
