WE MAY HAVE TO CHOOSE Tuxedo Cat Until 15 Mar 2015
Review by Jamie Wright
In this one-woman show, Emma Hall engages in a 55-minute stream-of-consciousness spoken word piece that takes the form of statements and opinions, on everything from politics to philosophy - and the evils of energy drinks.
Hall is an excellent performer and is engaging right from the get-go. It’s very cleverly written, and both funny and often deliberately provocative - some of the opinions border on ‘trolling’, in the parlance of our times. There’s a physical component as well; at points throughout the show, Hall supplements the words with movement, mostly of hands and arms. It’s very well done, seeming to be almost involuntary.
The result is a show that’s smart, fun and distinctly different.
