WE NEED YOUR HELP TO MAKE THIS YEAR’S “CURTAIN CALL” AWARDS NIGHT A SUCCESS!

We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated Events Coordinator to join our busy team.

The Adelaide Theatre Guide provides comprehensive services to the live theatre community in South Australia including reviews of over 90% of productions. Our website experiences over 10,000 hits per day and 15,000 visits per month from keen theatre practitioners, audiences and interested parties.

In addition to our website and review team, the organisation presents events in support of the theatre community in Adelaide, the most prominent of which is the annual Gala Dinner & “Curtain Call” Awards Night.

The dinner is a popular night amongst the theatre community (both professional and amateur), giving everyone an opportunity to network and celebrate theatre in South Australia. It consistently boasts an attendance rate of over 300 guests. The first responsibility of the Events Coordinator will be to organise this event, ensuring its success for its eighth consecutive year.

Internal funds for the event are limited, so recruiting support from sponsors is a necessity in the organisation of this event.

In order for the event to go ahead this year, we are seeking for an Events Coordinator to join the team and work with us to make it happen.

Responsibility:

Responsibility will include (but is not limited to):
  • Creating the vision and plan for this year’s event;

  • Organisation of event specifics, including venue, MC and technical crew;

  • Recruiting sponsors to support the event (past contacts for previous events will be provided as a starting point);

  • Organisation and coordination of the booking process, including responding to enquiries and tracking bookings as they are made; and

  • Creating and tracking the event budget.

Payment:

As the ATG is a volunteer organisation, this position too is purely voluntary (and therefore unpaid). However, the Events Coordinator will receive two complimentary tickets to the event, and provided the event is delivered successfully (as approved by management), a small honorary payment ($500) will be provided.

Hours:

Hours are flexible. It is anticipated the Events Coordinator will spend between two and four hours per week in the early stages of the event, but up to ten hours per week in the few weeks leading up to the event.

Requirements:

The main requirement for this position is a passion for event management, and a drive to make our events successful at ATG.

While experience in organising events and recruiting sponsors will be looked upon favourably, anyone with a self-driven attitude and a talent for planning is highly encouraged to apply.

While we are a theatre organisation, experience or involvement in the arts industry is not a requirement.

As we are an online organisation however, access to the internet and email is a requirement, and there is an expectation that the Events Coordinator will be available to check and respond to email on a daily basis.

Applications:

Please send your application via email to Nikki at info@theatreguide.com.au.

Applications close on Sunday, 1 April. We look forward to hearing from you!
