In today's Australian arts landscape, para//elo is one of a handful of performing arts organisations telling original Australian stories in the context of cultural diversity using cross-cultural practice and methodologies. For over twenty-one years para//elo has worked with diverse communities as the loam from which new artistic works are born, many of which have toured nationally and internationally.
From its humble beginnings within the Italian-Australian community, para//elo has gone on to receive numerous awards for its groundbreaking work, including in 1993, the prestigious Sidney Myer Performing Arts Award for its 'distinctive contribution to the Australian Performing Arts.
