Four middle-aged women come together following the death of a world famous, but somewhat unlamented scientist, Professor Alec Hobbs. The widow, the former student, the public relations consultant, the real estate agent.

The play takes place over one night in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney, but could just as easily have been set in one of Adelaide’s leafier suburbs. You’ve met these women.

As the wine flows, reminiscences and confessions soon reveal the private ambitions and regrets that lie behind their public lives. All four have been heavily involved in the professor’s life and career, in ways which some have not even suspected. All are haunted by the ghost of Alec in the form of his computer, still running his quest to model human evolution.

WICKED SISTERS is a dark comedy about personal relationships, about success, integrity and about competition versus cooperation, rationalism versus empathy.

And, in the end, about how one woman outsmarts them all.

South Australian premiere production. Shortlisted for the 2003 NSW Premier's Literary Award.

Features Tracey Korsten, Peta Schulenberg, April Stuart and Deborah Walsh.
