The Way of THE CROSS, the US based and acclaimed dramatization of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, is premiering in Adelaide for 5 performances only running March 21-23. The performances combine professional theater, music, and communal prayer following the last hours of the life of Jesus to his crucifixion, creating a uniquely moving, interactive presentation that appeals to Christians and non-believers alike.

The Director Martin Brennan said "The quality of this musical passion play is unique. This 18 month project has been worth it. My expectations of the quality of performer THE CROSS could attract has been vindicated. We have an extraordinarily talented cast of leads, all keen and they tell me 'there's just nothing like THE CROSS' and they're right".

"The Way of THE CROSS is a spiritual wake-up call," said US based Kelly Nieto, who created the production. "You're left with a profound understanding of Christ's sacrifice. Christians who have heard the story all their lives, as well as non-believers, can now experience Christ's Passion in a way like never before. This brings them to the foot of Calvary and immerses them in the sights, sounds, and emotions of the most important event in human history."

First presented 11 years ago in Michigan the production has continually grown attracting large Easter crowds and played to over 14,000 in Detroit, Michigan in 2012. Adelaide based Angelico Christian Theatrical Society Inc. (ACTS) has secured the rights to perform "The Way of THE CROSS" in Adelaide this March 21-23.

The Director Martin Brennan said "The talent assembled in this cast is simply spectacular. THE CROSS in 2013 has performers that are highly trained theatrical vocalists, we have a powerhouse of elite Australian talent casted, THE CROSS is a must see and the tickets are so affordable."

Jennifer Trijo will play Mary Magdalene. You may have seen Jennifer in the lead of Kim in the Australian Tour of "Miss Saigon" she said "THE CROSS moved me from the first song, I'm very grateful I can bring my gifts to this special project".

The cast includes the highly accomplished local thespian and baritone Andrew Crispe who will play the lead of Jesus, a member of the State Opera chorus. Other leads include Gil Costes (Pilate) and Ron Abelita (Thaddeus) members of Adelaide Symphony Chorus and Elders Conservatorium Chorale members. The highly accomplished cast and production team includes Musical Director John Drake life member of The Gilbert & Sullivan Society SA.

Martin Brennan said "Bringing new musical theatre to Australia is full of challenges that includes costumes too which have been shipped in from overseas including full replica steel roman legionnaire uniforms from the manufacturers that make for Hollywood". Martin said "The quality of the music and songs has to be experienced to be appreciated. This production is truly inspired".
