A STUDENT PRODUCTION OF THE MOTHERF**KER WITH THE HAT
University of Adelaide Theatre Guild
The Little Theatre
Written By: Stephen Adly Guirgis
Directed By: Robert Baulderstone
In yer face drama!
“The space between who you think you are and who you actually are is a pretty embarrassingly wide gap.”
Returning home from a stint in prison, recovering alcoholic Jackie discovers that his long-term girlfriend has been having an affair and he is determined to find out with whom.
Stephen Adly Guirgis’ gritty, confrontational and beautifully chaotic drama presents a set of deeply flawed yet profoundly relatable characters and pulls no punches in doing so.
Chosen, directed, performed and crewed by Theatre Guild student members, The Motherf**ker with the Hat is a play with addiction at its heart, offering insight into a variety of vices; sex, drugs, alcohol – and most importantly, love.
Guirgis cuts to the core of what it is to be in love, to fall out of love, and to try to hold on to something that’s already gone.
“Leave the gun. Take the empanadas.”
