Written By: EUGENE O'NEILL
Directed By: ROB CROSER

Eugene O'Neill is the father of modern American theatre. His greatest play, LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT, is based on his own family. His father was one of the most successful and popular actors in America. His convent-educated mother was prescribed morphine after giving birth to O'Neill, and she became an addict for over 20 years. The play traces the day in 1912, when the younger son (the O'Neill character) is diagnosed with tuberculosis. Terrified at the prospect of losing her "baby", the mother begins using morphine again. As the day progresses, father and sons watch on helplessly, as she slips away from them. Finally, at midnight, after all the blame and accusations are exhausted, a type of understanding has been reached by the young man who grows up to write the play we are watching. One of the world's greatest plays, no lover of theatre should miss it!
