For a change of scenery the Corinthian Singers are taking a day trip to Victor and the historic Newland Memorial Uniting Church, for their next concert: Making an Impression.

The program will include a range of works from the choir's repertoire, as well as showcasing music from their upcoming Anniversaries concert scheduled for 23 September at St John’s Church, such as songs from Sir Hubert Parry’s magnificent Songs of Farewell.

Works in the Victor Harbor concert will also include Orlando Gibbon’s choral setting of his madrigal The Silver Swan and Charles Villiers Stanford’s wistful setting of Mary Coleridge's verse, The Bluebird, with its soprano solo soaring above the choir, painting the movement of the bird soaring then fading into the distance.

In addition, there will be charming French songs by Camille Saint-Saëns including Les fleurs et les arbres, a celebration of nature and art and Calme des nuits, a meditation on the stillness of the night and the love of quiet things.

The concert also includes Olivier Messiaen’s only liturgical motet O sacrum convivium.

Join the Corinthian Singers for an afternoon of delightful choral music at Victor, followed by afternoon tea included in the ticket price.
