50 /50 Gluttony Comedy -- Note this is an archived listing for performances in the year 2019 -- Written & Directed By: Michael Shafar One of Australia’s fasting rising comedy stars, Melbournian Michael Shafar, returns to the Adelaide Fringe Festival with a brand new show, 50/50, at Piglet @ Gluttony 15-24 February 2019. Building from the success of his sold out shows Jewish-ish and Kosher Bacon, 50/50 is a raw, deeply personal and hilarious account of Michael’s physical and mental health journey. “In 2017, I was diagnosed with cancer and it gave me a lot of material. It’s the most transparent and honest I’ve ever been on stage, and it’s also the most I’ve had audiences laugh. I've always believed that any subject can be funny, and finding what's funny about an extremely painful experience makes it much easier to handle,” said Michael. “Humour has kept me sane throughout the journey and helped me find some meaning in it all. It’s been cathartic sharing that on stage,” he added. Since leaving a career in law, Michael Shafar has been working busily to try and justify that decision to his Jewish mother.
