Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl….So begins the saga of Lola and Tony. Their tale of love and romance on the way to stardom has captivated millions, and now is a full-scale, Broadway-style musical. The story follows aspiring songwriter, Stephen, as he composes what he hopes will become a hit musical. His imagination takes him back to the 1940’s as he creates a story surrounding an ambitious young singer Lola Lamar who arrives in New York City hoping to become a star. Lola confidently strides into the Copacabana where she meets Tony Starr, a bartender with dreams of his own. Smitten by the sheer beauty and fiery spirit of the talented performer, Tony arranges an audition with the club proprietor, Sam Silver, launching Lola on the path to stardom as a Copa girl.

Director Max Rayner says, “Over the years, Copacabana has been developed from an original movie to an hour long American Casino Show to a multi million dollar full length musical. It is Manilow’s music at its very best and we look forward to bringing it to audiences at the Arts Theatre.”

Original songs created by Barry Manilow, dazzling costumes, sensational choreography and glamorous Show Girls all add up to an evening of entertainment that will leave you breathless.
