The Arts Theatre
Written By: Derek Benfield
Directed By: Jude Hines
Derek Benfield, British playwright and actor is widely regarded as a master writer of both film and television farce. Author of much loved pieces including Running Riot, Bedside Manners, A Bird in the Hand and in long term acting roles in Rumpole of the Bailey and the Hetty Wainthropp Investigates series, his work stands the comedy test of time. Because of the breadth of his acting experience, his works are written in a way the supports the craft of actors, right down to scene and costume changes.
Bedside Manners is a two act play set in a small, unfashionable hotel in the depths of the English countryside. The time is the present. The season is Spring: a time for love and lovers. Well, almost.
It is Arts Theatre policy that all cast, staff (crew and FOH) and patrons are required to have received a minimum two doses of a recognised Covid 19 vaccination in order to attend the venue.
