“Let’s stop procrastinating. Let’s get on with it. Let’s tidy up.”

These are the lines that are continuously repeated throughout Dylan Cole’s one man show ‘It All Sparks Joy’ as the audience is brought into a hoarder’s lounge room while he tries not only to declutter his house, but also his life.

Surrounded by piles of self-help books, boxes of clothes and stuffed toys, our hoarder takes us on a journey of his life five years after divorce and the loss of a child. From talking about his wife’s three miscarriages, to where they met and what she was wearing – all the while taking notes from Marie Kondo on how to tidy up and spark joy in your life.

At the conclusion of the show you are left with a small sense of hope that his life will soon change for the better – but at the same time when he picks up yet another self-help book from the pile you can’t help but think that the cycle will continue.

Cole has written a well-thought-out show that will have you laughing in parts and crying in others. His performance is honest and convincing and delves into the mental health after effects of traumatic life experiences.

So, what are you waiting for? “Let’s stop procrastinating. Let’s get on with it. Let’s tidy up.”
