Introducing Cyndy and The Cynthetics – Australia’s one-number-two-hit-wonder 80s cover band.

In the small country town of Condobolin we meet 80s rocker Cyn and her band getting ready to play another gig – still waiting for their big break after 35 years in the industry.

Louise McCabe plays Cyn, an 80s rocker who hasn’t let go of the past and is still trying to live out her younger days. McCabe looks every part the rock chic, with denim jeans, boots, black t-shirt and leather jacket, complete with Joan Jett-esque hair. The show takes a while to get going, while McCabe does multiple monologues about her past loves and struggles to get into the charts. But once the music begins (about half way through the performance) the show picks up.

McCabe performs her way through some 80s and 90s rock classics from artists like Suzie Quatro, Siouxsie and The Banshees, Joan Jett, Blondie and Heart. She was accompanied by accomplished musicians Pearl Tassell on bass, Jai Cafarella on guitar and Dylan Warren on drums – whose final song finished with a spectacular solo.

This show is one for the die-hard rock fans, but unfortunately only performed for one night during this Fringe season.
