Review by Fran Edwards

A Diva with a bit of a difference, this one can sing! Adorned with (p)leather, feathers, a few sequins and killer heels, Jason Chasland uses his incredible voice to take the audience through some interesting song choices, suitably adapted. His version of “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” is everything it should be, except that, of course, he is not! He is most entertaining when regaling us about his time in London living in Flat 13b. During this he does some incredible vocal acrobatics that show off his 4-octave range.

He is a little crude but not really offensive – and boy, can he sing. Great versions of “It’s Raining Men” is followed by a version of “All By Myself”, the strength and range of his voice is impressive. Chasland pokes fun at himself, enjoys his explicit sex talk (with props), but his patter is amusing and strangely egalitarian. He also is the only singer apart from Farnham who can do justice to “You’re the Voice”! This powerful set of vocal chords deserves the title Leather Lungs.

This show will not be everyone’s cup of tea, but his opening night audience certainly enjoyed it. “Proud Mary” was a great song to finish on with the audience happy to sing along – but this artist needs no help. Go judge for yourself!
