Review by Jamie Wright

Eliza Thomas (as both herself and her alter ego, the unlikely-named dominatrix, SvetlankaSeczskittenya) and James McCann perform a tag-team standup comedy show, between them ruminatingon issues such as the superiority of the Leopard tank to the M1 Abrams, ‘War and Peace’, the limitationsof political comedy, the hazards of life in Morphett Vale and the comic potential of the periodic table.

Yes, it’s that kind of show.

Both Thomas (with her local references, maths and chemistry gags) and McCann (with his undergradphilosophy jokes) show potential in their respective routines, and have the audience (albeit one packedwith supportive friends and family) laughing out loud at numerous points throughout.

But too many jokes fell flat, leading to a loss of momentum, particularly McCann’s impersonations andthe rather bizarre bit requiring an audience member to act as a lectern, which was discomfiting – andnot in a good way.

Both/either a tightening-up of the material and/or a shortening of the sets would make for a far bettershow.
