A perfect concept fo Fringe fare. Three menus of five plays each performed by four seriously good actors. Pick your menu, pick your night and be guaranteed of a value packed performance. Or see all three menus over a series of nights.

I happened to see Menu 2. “Uncomfortable Silences” by Andrew O’Keefe is an hilarious look at the issue of should friends become lovers. “Vintage” by Lucy Kaufman is belly-laugh hilarious and deals with a couple who have decided to live their entire married life together permanently in the year 1942 and who visit a relationship counsellor when things go awry. “All Hail” by Peter Holland is a neat little twist on the Scottish play. “Transactions” is a rather poignant story of fantasy and unrequited love while “The Keys to the Mystic Halls of Time” by Matt Cassarino is a satire about online gaming.

There is some excellent character work by all fours actors – Lisa Beresford, Andy Hutchinson, Alice Robinson and Sean Williams – with the highlight of the night being “Vintage” which in itself is worth the price of admission. My only criticism is the order in which they were performed as it would have been nice to build to a climax.
