Chris Daniels Productions and Emma Knights Productions
LIVE on 5, Adelaide Oval

Review by Janice Bailey

The Live on 5 Entertainment venues at Adelaide Oval are truly spectacular, showcasing a diversity of entertainment and artists. Emma Knights Productions and Chris Daniels should be thanked for having the foresight to see the potential in this beautiful location showcasing the beauty of The Riverbank and Adelaide. To all those interstaters who believe nothing ever happens in Adelaide – you don’t know what you’re missing!

The Bailey Dolls are Catherine Hearne, Gillian Quinn, Leah Gauthier and Merrilyn Greer, together with friends, Buddy Dawson and Seb Cooper, accompanied by a swinging top-notch band – Sean Renaud on bass, Barnabas Smith on drums, Emma Knights on piano and Chris Weber on trumpet – collectively known as The Duckies! Direct from the UK, the Bailey Dolls and friends present a slick, glamorous, thoroughly entertaining show which includes audience participation, comedy and beautiful harmonies. The show is reminiscent of the 40s and is a visual feast as well as a banquet for the ears.

“Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” showcasing the superb trumpet of Chris Weber, “Lullaby of Broadway” in acapella, “When the Saints” played on bazooka, and a conga line with the audience joining in were just a few of the many highlights. Buddy Dawson showed how he has matured as a performer with a fine rendition of “Mister In Between” and Seb Cooper impressed with his rendition of “I’ve Got You Under My Skin”. This is dinner theatre, with a thoroughly entertaining and classy show in a wonderful venue. Highly recommended.
