Stage, TV and Comedy celebrity Glynn Nicholas will return to his home town again to host SA Theatre’s night of nights, the Adelaide Theatre Guide “Curtain Call” Awards.

One of Australia’s leading and most versatile comedy performers, Nicholas began his career busking in Rundle Mall and to date has worked extensively on stage, most recently with Shaun Micallef in The Pleasure of their Company, which won the Best Comedy “Curtain Call” Award in 2005.

Nicholas is probably best known from his many years as a presenter on the ABC's “The Big Gig”, “The Glynn Nicholas Show” and recently as a special reporter for George Negus.

"The “Curtain Call” Award sits proudly on my shelf next to my Aria nomination – when I lost to the Wiggles in 1984", Nicholas says.
The “Curtain Call” awards are presented at a gala dinner, recognising excellence in live theatre. In 2005, the event was a huge success and is now established as the event for Adelaide’s theatre community. Nominations in each category are announced on May 30, 2006.

Event Manager Hayley Horton says the awards night is generating much excitement around Adelaide.

“After last year’s success, both the professional and amateur theatre community are eager to attend what has become Adelaide’s equivalent of the Tony Awards,” she says.

“We are particularly excited that Glynn Nicholas has agreed to be MC, but there will also be an array of local talent performing on the night. It is becoming an exciting tradition for Adelaide.”

The Adelaide Theatre Guide (ATG) is South Australia's own internet guide to theatre in and around Adelaide at www.theatreguide.com.au supporting live theatre through events and promotion.

This event is proudly supported by Eastside Music & Technology (www.emt.net.au).
