TV and Comedy celebrity Tim Ferguson’s star will shine on Adelaide again when he returns to host a theatre awards night – the first of its kind in Adelaide.

The former Doug Anthony Allstars member is MC for the inaugural Adelaide Theatre Guide Awards and Gala Dinner for amateur and professional theatre.

Ferguson has a strong connection with Adelaide theatre, recently starring in the MS Society’s Production of “Joseph and The AmazingTechnicolor Dreamcoat”.

"Adelaide has always been a powerhouse of the arts as their many festivals show",” he said.

"I am delighted to be involved in the awards and looking forward to a fun night"

The Awards will be presented for the first time at a special Gala dinner in July. A panel of reviewers will consider nominations for Best Production and Best Individual Performance for amateur and professional comedies, dramas and musicals from more than 90 per cent of productions performed in Adelaide between June 1, 2004 and May 30, 2005.

Event Manager Hayley Horton says the Awards night is generating much excitement around Adelaide. “People are already talking about the nominations and trying to guess the winners, but more exciting is the opportunity for the Adelaide theatre community to celebrate together,” said Ms Horton.

“We are particularly excited that Tim Ferguson has agreed to be MC, but there will also be an array of local talent performing on the night. It is an exciting “first” for Adelaide.”
