What are the ATG "Curtain Call" Awards?
Media

The ATG "Curtain Call" awards have become an institution! It is an annual event anticipated by Adelaide's theatre community - both professional and amateur.

This year's event is set to be more glitzy and more glamorous than ever before, with the theme "Wicked Winter". The night is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the efforts of the Adelaide theatre community, network with others in the industry and reunite with colleagues of past and present.

In 2012 the event will again be held at The Observatory Function Centre, 23 Hackney Road, Hackney SA 5069.

Our MC for the evening is David Gauci, esteemed performer who recently starred in the professional Australian production of 'Hairspray', and a local singing teacher.

More about David: David Gauci likes to say he was 'born on the wagon of a travelling show'; truth be known he was born in Adelaide and is proud of that! David graduated from the school of 'piano bar and wedding receptions' a little over 10 years ago and since then has been blissfully treading the boards in corporate, community and professional theatre. His theatre credits include, Cats as Old Deuteronomy, The award winning Spelling Bee as Barfee and Richard the 'Nice Nurse' in the Australian Premiere of A New Brain to name a few - managing to find work in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney. His most recent outing on stage saw him as a member of the Australian touring cast of Hairspray and here in Adelaide where he had the opportunity to reprise that role in the MBM production, where he also took to designing the set. David's greatest joy comes from the work he does with students of voice. He has written and performed numerous cabaret offerings including 'Coles Girls' which toured Melbourne and Adelaide. David is a very proud member of equity.

Awards are considered for both Amateur and Professional / Semi-Professional productions and focus specifically on areas such as:
  • Entire Show / Production
  • Acting / Performances
  • Technical / Design
