The Grainger Studio was originally West's Cinema, built in 1939. The cinema was described as 'the best example of the art deco modern style in Australia'. The building has been returned to its former glory retaining many of the original art deco features, in particular, the magnificent foyer and grand staircase that lead up to a mezzanine level complete with balcony. The cinema's original auditorium has been converted to the ASO's main rehearsal studios.
The Grainger Studio is the ideal venue for every occasion. The majestic foyer, complete with gracious staircase, can accommodate up to 200 people cocktail-style making it the perfect location for pre-dinner drinks, with the flexibility to suit a black tie event to a casual office affair. The studio boasts a length of 33 metres by 18.5 metres in width and ceiling height of 10 metres. With such an enormous capacity and not a pillar in site, this venue is perfect for conferences, exhibitions and grand dinner events.
