The Multiple Sclerosis Society of SA & NT has been producing musical theatre productions since 2001. These productions have grown to form a large part of the Society's fundraising programme for each year, and provide Adelaide with some of the largest productions in town. Originally performing at The Odeon Theatre, Norwood (and indeed, still producing some shows there), and the Norwood Concert Hall, the Society moved to Her Majesty's Theatre in 2004 with a large-scale production of Les Miserables featuring Normie Rowe as Jean Valjean. Apart from occasional professional performers in featured roles, all performers in MS Musicals are unpaid and volunteer their time and talent in order to assist in raising money for people living with MS. The Society provides services such as counselling, physiotheraphy, occupational therapy and employment search help to people with MS and also to their families. The funds raised also go towards nationally coordinated research into finding a cause and cure for MS, the most common neurological disease among young adults in Australia.
