THE METROPOLITAN MUSICAL THEATRE COMPANY OF SA INC (AKA “THE MET”)
PO Box 3099
NEWTON SA 5074
Originally formed in 1958 as the 'Metropolitan Light Opera Company', performances first took place at the Unley and Norwood Town Halls, before moving to the Arts Theatre (Angas Street, Adelaide) in 1964, where the Company has remained.
The aims of the Company were to nurture and encourage local talent, to provide a medium through which this could be achieved and to bring a wide variety of productions to Adelaide audiences at reasonable prices. These aims are as important today as they were when the company began and many past members of the Company have successfully pursued professional careers in the arts and musical theatre here in Australia and overseas.
The Company's name was changed in 1970 to 'The Metropolitan Musical Theatre Company' and we have continued to present high standard and award winning productions. The Company is administered by a team of dedicated volunteers whose strong commitment to the Company, with the support of the Adelaide public, will ensure that The Met will entertain audiences long into the future.
