‘The Little Fish’ started making waves in Adelaide’s southern suburbs during their debut year of 2011. They are the performance arm of Southern Youth Theatre Ensemble (SYTE) and their mission is to provide high quality theatre for the southern suburbs, using local talented actors. Their debut year saw their breakout production of ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ at the Old Stables at Penny’s Hill Winery, McLaren Vale. This was followed-up by a ‘back-by-popular-demand’ revival of ‘Much Ado’ on the wonderful lawns of Leconfield Winery, McLaren Vale
The current performance focus of ‘The Little Fish’ is the ‘Raw Shakespeare Project’, drawing on the success of their initial season. We will present a Winter and Summer Shakespeare production, all set to period but stripped back of any modern interpretations or trickery. With our focus on the characters and beautifully complex stories we try to present the Bard’s work as honestly as it was first presented 400 years ago. Our shows are designed to be accessible to all and we pride ourselves on the rapidly growing number of dedicated followers who never thought they would like Shakespeare, and now won’t miss our productions.
